I wish I were three.....

....because then I could wear this. I think I'm a bit old for this style, but I really like how it turned out!

I wonder if I made it with non-puffed sleeves and added a couple of darts to shape the body
if I could wear this style? Or am I about 20 years too old? I made this for a size three because I wasn't sure how it'd look over a real baby belly. Toddler bellies are still very round, but a bit more spread out vertically. I can just see this on my three year old neice! (Apart from the fact that she's in France so a bit far away to model for me)

  1. That is totally gorgeous - the puffed sleeves, the gathered pockets and the impeccable top stitching - just the right amount of "frou" for a little girl to feel really pretty. Gorgeous job.

  2. That's gorgeous! And as for you wearing it, there's a similar McCall's pattern that I've been eyeing up for a while, so I'm sure with a few tweaks you could adultify it ;-)

I love the pockets in particular :-)

  3. That is so CUTE! I think you could, as Jen above so cleverly said, "adultify" it. I like the idea of changing the sleeves, I think that would do it. Wouldn't it be cute in some kind of baby wale cord for autumn? Gives you loads of time to work it out. :-)

  4. OK, I give up. I can't figure out what "JAR" means. I would have emailed or messengered you, but didn't have that so here it is. What does "JAR" mean? Probably I'm missing something obvious somewhere. I'm known to do that from time to time. ;-)

  5. Doh! Just figured it out, I'm a little slow (which you can see, since the answer slowly seeped into my brain twelve hours later while I was brushing my teeth). Like I said, not always the sharpest tack in the box. I'll try not to post stupid questions from now on.

  6. I can't believe you spent time wondering what JAR means! (Hang on, scratch that - it's exactly the sort of thing I do too.) Just in case your realisation was way more interesting than my very mundane reason for designating patterns, yup, JAR are my initials. I used to be JAW, which made my siblings think I should marry someone who's last name started with S and hyphenate my name.

  7. That jacket is devine. The gathers and style is gorgeous. I can see what you mean about sewing for girls. The clothes they wear, the styles, the colours, the embellishments... it just gives you so much more scope to be creative.

PS... how cute are baby bellies! I love rubbing my two little bellies!
